What is the Purpose of a Fire Safety Plan?

The purpose of a Fire Safety Plan is to provide the owner with assessments of potential fire risks and measures to address and respond to these risks. Additionally they provide the owners and occupants with a safe and orderly evacuation plan in the event of an emergency.

When is a Fire Safety Plan Required?

The British Columbia Fire Code, section 2.8, requires buildings containing Group A – Assembly (churches, schools, restaurants, etc.) or Group B – Care/Detention (care homes, prisons, etc.) occupancy to implement a Fire Safety Plan.

How do I obtain a Fire Safety Plan for my building?

Due to every building being different, Escape Fire Protection will arrange a site walk through at your location to prepare a quotation for creation of your personal fire safety plan.

Once the quotation is accepted, we will begin work and make sure to keep in contact with the local authority having jurisdiction (typically your local Fire Dept.), to make sure all municipal laws are followed and there is no problems once installation takes place.

What is Included in a Fire Safety Plan?

Fire safety plans include the following: (may vary based on building type)

  1. A printed version of the full fire safety plan

  2. A labelled lock-box installed near the front entrance to your building

  3. A Electronic copy of the Full fire safety plan

  4. A placard of the fire safety plan applicable to each level or section of your building installed in that corresponding level or section.
